Re: Galiano Conservancy Association application
Dear David,
We at the Saturna Island Residents and Ratepayers Association (SIRRA) are pleased to hear that the
Galiano Conservancy Association is applying for Gas Tax Funds to support the Renewable Energy
Education Centre and are writing to lend our support to this application. We believe this is an important
initiative because of us on the Gulf Islands will be able to access and benefit from this resource.
Tom Mommsen and I (David Osborne) have been communicating about this concept for the past year.
Having seen various iterations of the proposal I am pleased to see how it has matured and gelled over
time. I know that Tom and his group on Galiano have been very successful in implementing solar
projects there and will do a fine job applying their experience to this one.
We (SIRRA has nearly 200 mmbers) look forward to working with the folks on Galiano to further the
installation of renewable energy, and particularly photovoltaics, on the Gulf Islands. We are excited in
the hope that some of it will come to Saturna Island also and this is a valuable resource.
Sincerely,
David Osborne
President, SIRRA
